Company Bio

Established in early 2014 in Orange County, CA, The Assembly is a dancer-owned co-operative that collaborates to create original dance-based works, events, and media. They incubate new dances and the designs and artworks that support them, as well as give new life to existing choreography. In addition to producing their own events in such non-traditional dance spaces as art galleries, warehouses, and yoga studios, The Assembly has been presented across Southern California and in Atlanta, GA. In 2018, they opened for Elizabeth Turk’s 1000-person Shoreline Project commissioned by Laguna Art Museum. They recently concluded a 2019 residency at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton, CA, where they created the evening-length work, “How to Draw an Outline,” and accompanying workshop, Boundaries Practice.
